Central Valley Legislative Roundtable

The San Joaquin Community Foundation, Stanislaus Community Foundation, Kern Community Foundation, the Central Valley Community Foundation, and the Maddy Institute jointly convene the Central Valley Legislative Roundtable, a gathering of district staff from the Valley’s state and Federal delegation. The quarterly meetings provide an opportunity for information sharing, finding opportunities to work together across the political and geographic spectrum of the Valley, and leveraging public and philanthropic resources. The Maddy Institute joined the partnership in April 2024 to strengthen the partnership and facilitate bipartisan conversations on important public policy issues.

Geographic Focus
All eight counties of the Central Valley – Kern, Tulare, Kings, Fresno, Madera, Merced, Stanislaus, and San Joaquin Counties.

This unique partnership provides opportunities for bi-partisan problem-solving and leveraging the activities of the public and philanthropic sectors in the region. The quarterly meetings rotate around the region, giving district representatives the chance to learn from their counterparts and community voices from other parts of the Valley. In 2021, the community foundations collaborated with the Gates Foundation to improve college degree attainment in the region. Members of the Central Valley Legislative Roundtable spent months learning about and advocating for equitable dual enrollment as a key strategy to improve college degree attainment in the region, including supporting a $200M allocation in the FY23 State budget to promote dual enrollment.
